The Oregonian Review

I'm very pleased that the Oregonian came to review the show.  I think Ms. Wells makes some great points.
“Inviting Desire” presents itself as revolutionary, and it is. Its cast of talented actresses portrays women joyfully acknowledging their desire, owning it, enjoying it, expressing it. That this is revolutionary is both thrilling and frustrating. It means that we still, indeed, have a long way to go.

Opening Night. Tonight. Yes.

We have been through so much with this show - changes in cast (it seems impossible that we just replaced someone only 6 days ago), changes in designers, upheaval with the theater space, emotional break-ups and freak-outs and check-ins.  And I believe that we have handled all the drama with as much grace as we could find, with compassion for ourselves and each other.  Ultimately, I think that the tumultuous path has helped us to create a show that is rich and nuanced and deeply personal.  I believe we are sharing with the world a unique perspective on female sexuality - one that is both funny and sexy, authentic and theatrical.  I sure hope you can make it.

The show opens this Friday! Preview on Thursday!

I am the worst blogger EVER!  But man oh man, how does one create a show, market and sell it, and maintain a rehearsal blog, a twitter account, a facebook page AND a show blog?  It's freakin' hard, yo!  But I'm telling you, this show is gonna be worth all the cum, sweat and tears that have gone into the making of it.  We've had some shake-ups and cast changes (welcome Diana!)  but it just makes it all the more exciting and fresh.   This thursday the 13th is a $10 preview, and opening is Friday the 14th (champagne included with your ticket!)  We run Thurs- Sun until June 5th.  Don't miss it!

Inviting Desire 2010 IN THE WORKS!

It's been a while - and we have been busy beavers.  The show is cast and well into the creation process.  I wanted to announce the players - which I promised weeks ago.
back row is Allison Tigard (a returning cast member from the very first show Inviting Desire: A Theatrical Aphrodisiac), Beth Thompson, Me (Eleanor O'Brien), TOri Padellford (also an alumnae from the first go round) and Ithica Tell on the end.
front row is Amber Peoples, Alisha Berry  and Zigzag Montefusco.
Get ready, this show is going to be phenomenal.  We will open May 14th and run through June 5th. Details to come!

Auditions. OMG.

Sunday night, I will host a dozen brave ladies at my home.  I've asked them to prepare a piece of erotica to share.  I'll lead them in a theater game or two (with an adult kind of twist).  If all goes well, I'll discover a few new ensemble members.  Such an exciting prospect.

There are actresses I know coming to the audition, ones that I've worked with - that feels scary somehow.  When I didn't know anyone, I could kind of reinvent myself as "A director."  But with people coming who know me as an actress, I fear them seeing right through my disguise.  And yet, after a year of working on this show, I do have a stronger/thicker(?) sense of myself as facilitator (director, not so much.  Work in progress).

I have missed working on this piece of theatre.  I feel like it reaches into my most creative spaces and ignites little fires.  I am eager to face creative challenges once again (I despare about logistic ones, but that just comes with the territory of creating theater it seems).

If you are reading this  post before Sunday the 3rd and know someone who just HAS to audition, they would be so PERFECT for this show, send them to the website dancenakedproductions.com, and they can get in touch with me.

I'll keep you posted what happens Sunday night (and then... callbacks!)
